WHAT IS INVISALIGN?

Invisalign has no brackets or wires, instead it uses clear plastic aligner trays to gently yet firmly reposition your teeth. The trays are removable, and once in the mouth are virtually invisible.

WHO CAN HAVE INVISALIGN?

Invisalign is an adult-oriented orthodontic system that may also be suitable for some older teens. It can be used to correct most common orthodontic problems including overcrowding, gaps in between teeth, overbites, underbites and crossbites.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

Initially, our dentist will need to assess your teeth and the way they bite together. Next, they can plan your treatment using digital scans, photographs and x-rays of your teeth. The information is used by sophisticated computer software to create 3-D digital images of your teeth. Our dentist will plan exactly how each tooth will move until all your teeth are correctly aligned. You can preview the digital images, seeing precisely how your teeth will look once treatment is complete.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?

Invisalign is incredibly easy to use. You simply insert your aligner trays, only removing them whenever you want to brush and floss your teeth or for mealtimes. It’s important to wear your aligner trays for at least 22 hours each day. Because the trays are removable, there is no need to change your diet or your oral hygiene routine, so there is minimal impact on your everyday life. Each set of aligners trays is worn for 1-2 weeks then replaced with the next set in the series. You continue wearing the aligners until your smile is straight.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Treatment time can vary according to the corrections required. If the problems requiring correction are cosmetically oriented and only affect your front teeth, treatment may be shorter. More complicated corrections will take longer. You will receive a far more accurate timeline during your initial consultation, and of course, we can answer all your questions about this treatment.
